Written by Elizabeth Stierstorfer | Jan 10, 2025 4:35:58 PM

Raised access flooring systems are the backbone of data centers, office buildings, and other infrastructure-heavy environments. They provide concealed spaces for essential utilities like wiring, HVAC, and plumbing.

While the panels and pedestals may receive the spotlight in raised access flooring systems, the true unsung heroes are the adhesives and sealants that ensure their stability, safety, and longevity.

High-quality sealants and adhesives are more than just construction materials—they are the foundation of a reliable and long-lasting raised access flooring system.

From securing pedestals to enhancing the durability of the concrete subfloor, these products provide the strength and performance needed to meet the unique demands of modern construction.

With over two decades of experience, Seal Bond has become a trusted leader in the adhesives and sealants industry. We create innovative solutions specifically designed for raised access flooring, ensuring flawless installations that exceed industry standards.

Whether you’re a building engineer, a flooring contractor, or a distribution manager, Seal Bond’s products deliver the performance and reliability you need for every project.

The Role of Sealants in Raised Access Flooring Systems

Raised access flooring systems require high-quality materials engineered for precision and durability. They must support heavy loads, withstand environmental exposure, and effectively manage airflow in plenum spaces. The adhesives and sealants used in these systems must ensure that every component works seamlessly to meet these three major challenges:

1. Stability

The foundation of any raised access flooring system is its ability to remain secure and stable under constant use. They need to support heavy traffic and equipment loads without compromising structural integrity. Innovative sealants and adhesives require strong, durable bonds to anchor pedestals and panels.

2. Safety

Safety is paramount in construction, and proper adhesives and sealants are required to meet stringent safety requirements. Products must comply with international building codes and adhere to environmental standards, including low VOC content. This not only safeguards the health of installers and occupants but also enhances the system’s fire resistance and overall safety performance.

3. Longevity

High-quality adhesives and sealants contribute significantly to the lifespan of raised access flooring systems. They protect against moisture intrusion, wear and tear, and substrate deterioration. Investing in products with moisture-curing capabilities, engineered to enhance performance over time, reduces the need for costly repairs and replacements.
