How Seal Bond Helped a Roofing Manufacturer Improve Performance & Safety with Custom Roofing Sealants
Background
As a leading commercial roof systems manufacturer with over 75 years of experience, this company is a fixture in the roofing industry. Their product portfolio includes a full spectrum of projects including Mod-Bit, APP, Single-Ply Membranes, Metal Roofing, and Roof Coatings.
As they continue to evolve their offerings, they needed roofing sealants and adhesives to meet performance demands across all system types. They also needed to align with increasingly strict environmental and safety standards.
Their search for a new and improved solution initially centered on a cold-applied membrane adhesive. However, as conversations with Seal Bond progressed, additional opportunities surfaced—specifically for enhanced formulations of single-ply termination and pourable penetration sealants.
The Goal
One partner, multiple solutions to improve product performance, safety, and supply.
This manufacturer was ready to modernize its adhesive and sealant lineup, but needed help. Outdated product formulations, regulatory pressures, and supplier limitations held back product development goals.
The main problems they were trying to solve included:
- A need for products with improved Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) profiles due to shifting codes and regulations
- Underperforming products from existing vendors
- Pressure to reduce SKUs and overall product costs
- Long and unpredictable lead times
- A lack of formulation flexibility and limited support for custom applications
Our Solution
Collaborative innovation to solve real-world problems.
Seal Bond approached the partnership by getting everyone involved. We collaborated closely with Purchasing, Product Managers, R&D, Marketing, and Technical teams to understand the full scope of the client’s challenges and opportunities.
This discovery process led to several key questions:
- Does Seal Bond offer an alternative with a better HSE profile?
- Can our product work for this application or substrate?
- How does our chemistry compare to what they’re using now?
- Is it low-VOC, solvent-free, and easy to apply?
In some cases, we could deliver an immediate solution from our existing product line. In others, we modified or custom-developed formulations to meet exact specifications.
The result was a 5-star product lineup, streamlined sourcing, and a true partnership built around solving real-world problems.
